Former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina responded to those who questioned her faith and her resolve to fight Islamists because she once praised the “enlightenment” of the medieval Ottoman Empire. She said:
It was my personal relationship with Jesus Christ that saved me.
“No one needs to question or tell me about my faith. I’ve been through some hard times in my life. I’ve battled cancer. We’ve lost a child to the demons of addiction. So I understand in deeply personal terms, that it was my personal relationship with Jesus Christ that saved me, that saved my family. So it’s unfortunate when people throw stones at anyone, but politics has sort of become that, hasn’t it? And we have candidates who encourage it.”
Ummmm. No. Great non-answer, but it doesn’t address the reality of the Islamic invasions that caused the Crusades or that institutionalized slavery and the abuse of women and girls over the last 1400 years.
